Made from the peel of bitter orange. The making of the orange peel is complex: the selected fruits are desalinated, blanched, freed from the core and then the peels are candied in sugar solution.
The taste is fruity and sweet with an aromatic bitter note.
Without preservatives, the candied orange peel is very popular as a baking ingredient for small baked goods such as Florentine or in the traditional Christmas bakery or as a fruity snack for cold days.
The orange peel contains considerable amounts of copper, calcium, magnesium, vitamin A, fiber and of course vitamin C.
