Description
Chia seeds, which are originated from Mexico, are good companions for vegan diets, but they are also popular as natural dietary supplements.
Chia seeds are an unprocessed superfood, that contains important vitamins (A, B1, B3, E) and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Chia seeds are healthy as part of a low-fat, varied diet.
Chia is also known as an omega-3 fatty acid source, but it is only released and made available to the body when the seeds are grinded or chewed well.
It belongs to the mint plants (such as mint, thyme, rosemary or sage). Anyone who is allergic to these plants or mustard should be careful by consuming chia.
Due to the feature, that it swells good, it is also a sufficient substitute for eggs in a vegan recipes, but chia seeds can be spread on the breakfast muesli too.
